BAD GOISERN/BAD ISCHL. Touching charity concert by Anna Coa for a Ukrainian refugee family in Bad Ischl.
A benefit concert by the band Anna Coa recently took place in the Kulturcafé Maislinger in Bad Goisern for the benefit of a Ukrainian refugee family of nine in Bad Ischl.
“The impulse came when the relatives of our neighbor from the Ukraine moved into the apartment below us at the beginning of the war – we just wanted to help,” says Leyti Seck, who sets the rhythm in the band on the percussion.
The apartment was made available without hesitation by a lawyer from Ischl. Unfortunately, since the basic services for registered refugees are still a long time coming, money for food, school supplies, etc. is constantly needed.
concert to raise funds
The idea for a benefit concert was quickly born. Admission is free, voluntary donations are encouraged. “It is simply a heartfelt need for us to be able to contribute a small part and we simply want to counter this darkness with music, joie de vivre and togetherness. The keen interest of the public and the generosity of the donations showed that this can be successful,” says Anna Coa.
The concert was reserved down to the last seat and the guests were entertained for three hours with a mix of their own compositions, Austropop classics and international hits and were spoiled with culinary delights by the team around Barbara Maislinger.
Most of the refugee family had come to witness the evening. Iryna Bodi says, “We were all so touched and excited by the music and the willingness to help. I am very grateful for the support of my family.”
And the result is impressive, because a sum of 1,406 euros was handed over to the refugee family.
