This spring, Benedikt Doll, 33, decided to retire.

He repented – and continued.

Today the German himself defeated Johannes Thingnes Bö and won the sprint.

It was a German display in the men’s sprint in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.

They had as many as four riders in the top six, only Sturla Holm Laegreid and Johannes Thingnes Bö could break through among all the Germans.

Best of all was the 33-year-old Benedikt Doll.

He defeated Bö by 5.4 seconds after shooting flawlessly.

Doll decided last spring to quit, but changed his mind and decided that this year’s season will be his last.

– I am very happy today. Four Germans in the top six is proof that we have really good skis, says the winner in SVT.

Third in the race was compatriot Philip Nawrath.

“Too bad”

Best Swede, Martin Ponsilouma, finished in seventh place after two hurdles.

The Swede rode really fast and would probably have been on the podium if he had stopped on a missed shot.

– Really less today. I already felt in the warm-up that it felt good. I had a good feeling. I am incredibly upset, says Ponsilouma in SVT.

Jesper Nelin finished 21st while Malte Stefansson and Oscar Brandt ended up very far down the field. The two doldis had four and five booms respectively.

– It is far too bad. It’s sad to watch, I suffer with them. It deserves more, sighs coach Jean-Marc Chabloz.
