Exactly one year ago, on December 31, 2022, Benedict XVI left this earthly world to go to the Father’s House. The Church lost one of its great pontiffs and an excellent theologian, Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger.
On January 2 of this year that we end today, the funeral chapel of the one who had been the 265th successor of Peter was opened in St. Peter’s Basilica. That same day, at COPE we premiered a podcast about the figure of Benedict XVI.
A long investigation, more than thirty exclusive interviews with people who knew the man, the theologian and the Pope well, led to six episodes, six chapters that we titled: ‘Benedict XVI, the Pope of the storm’, and podcast -which you can find here, on cope.es, on YouTube or Spotify- which was awarded theAward Bravo Digital Communication 2023.
‘Benedict XVI, the Pope of the storm’

Episode 2: The Cardinal Panzer
As a summary: How did a young theology professor become Pope John Paul II’s right-hand man? How does he become one of the most influential men in the world?
We find the starting point in his desire to be a professor of Theology and in the role he played during the Second Vatican Council. Without being aware of it, Ratzinger has already entered the spiral to become Benedict XVI and to suffer persecution by the media.
Was it really the Panzer Cardinal?
Episode 3: The sweater sleeves
