Oval: Recently, Ben Stokes, who retired from ODIs, was brought back to the team by the captain Jos Buttler. Butler wanted to play for England in the World Cup. Buttler and the England camp were delighted when Ben Stokes, who came back from retirement, became a spark at the Oval.
In the third ODI against New Zealand, Stokes brought out a magical batting that broke records. The player scored 182 runs in 124 balls. He also holds the record for the highest score by a player in ODIs for England. Stokes surpassed Jason Roy’s 180 against Australia in 2018.
The player also broke another record with David Malan who supported Katta by scoring 96 runs. This became England’s best ever partnership on any wicket. Both of them combined for the third wicket and put up a partnership of 199 runs. Joe Root and Eoin Morgan’s 198-run partnership against New Zealand in 2015 is behind here.
Stokes hit 15 fours and nine huge sixes at the Oval. This is the first ODI century since 2017. 4th career ODI century. This is also the highest score of the star.
Stokes reaches the crease with the loss of two wickets while adding 13 runs. Stokes scored a century in just 76 balls. The actor hit three sixes towards the century. After completing the century, the remaining six sixes were struck.
