Ben Simmons meets the Sixers, update on the situation

One month before the NBA transfer deadline. One month to unblock the situation of Ben Simmons. Or not. The player is under contract until 2025. In other words, the Pennsylvania franchise has time. This is the message sent by Daryl Morey and Elton Brand after a friendly and professional meal with the player and his agent, Rich Paul.

According to ESPN, the four men therefore met in a restaurant to take stock of the situation of the Philadelphia Sixers winger. As much to tell you right away, there is nothing new. This is the only information: nothing has changed.

The Australian still refuses to play for the Pennsylvania franchise, claiming that he is not mentally fit to return to competition. The Sixers hoped he would return to the field at some point, either to help the team follow through on their ambitions or to at least boost his value again before trading him.

As a result, the position of the organization has not changed either. Morey and Brand won’t transfer him unless they get another star in return. The idea is to make a trade that can allow the franchise to play the title. But it just seems impossible. Ben Simmons is an excellent player but his profile is quite atypical.

His way of managing this event, his failures in attack in the playoffs and his long period without playing will certainly not encourage teams to part with an All-Star to put the grapple on it. In fact, this meeting, it above all suggests that nothing will be settled this season. The situation is therefore likely to be prolonged at least until the next draft.
