On April 7, 2024, Ben Shelton secured his second ATP title by defeating American player Frances Tiafoe in the final of the Houston Open, an ATP 250 tournament.
It was the first ATP final to be played between two African-American men. Shelton played well and won 7-5, 4-6, 6-3. This was also his first title on clay, and he climbed to number 14 in the world rankings.
