Ben Kubik, CEO of Takeda Cono Sur, the Japanese pharmaceutical company that celebrated its 242nd anniversary, participated in the CEO Profile, an event organized by the newspaper El Cronista together with Apertura magazine. “It is considered one of the 10 health threats. Before, it was endemic in only nine countries. But now there are more than 100 affected, with 3.9 billion inhabitants. The development was a challenge, with 10 years of work with doctors, scientists and academics,” said Kubik, and considered that a multifaceted approach is needed in the fight against the disease.

Regarding the process, he revealed that “the clinical trial was complex.” “In four and a half years, we collected data from more than 20,000 participants to provide a guarantee of safety and efficacy. In the tests, a 60% reduction in symptomatic cases and 80% of hospitalizations was achieved,” he pointed out, adding that the firm drives innovation in different areas, such as oncology, rare diseases and plasma-derived therapies.

In Argentina, the vaccine has already been approved for people over four years of age in all dengue serotypes, with or without a history. “It allowed us to start manufacturing to bring it”, commented the executive and stressed that the secret of the kitchen was how the company integrated the values ​​and the purpose for the future to maintain a sustainable operation into the business model.
