It may be clear that the marriage between Ben Affleck and the DC Extended Universe has not become what it could have been. The actor only had leading roles in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in Justice League, while he is also in The Batman had to be seen. He would even direct the film.
“It was really Justice League that was the low point for me,” Affleck told the LA Times when asked about his decision to hang Batman’s cape.
“That was a bad experience because of a confluence of things: my own life, my divorce, being away too much, the mismatched agendas and then Zack’s personal tragedy and the reshoots. It was just the worst experience. It was terrible. It was everything I didn’t like about this. That’s when I said, ‘I’m not doing this anymore.’ It’s not even about Justice League being that bad.”
So no directing The Batman either
“I looked at it and thought, ‘I’m not going to be happy about this. The person doing this must love it.’ You always have to want to do this kind of thing, and I probably would have loved to do it when I was 32 or something,” said Affleck. “But it was the point where I started to realize it wasn’t worth it.”
The actor also indicated that he was happy that he had made his choice. “It made me feel more at ease.” This year he takes The Flash farewell to the franchise.
