Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
The Student Executive Board (BEM) Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta criticized the President’s response respon Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regarding nicknames King of Lip Service given by BEM University of Indonesia (FINE UI)
BEM UMY assessed that Jokowi did not respond to the main substance of the criticism The King of Lip Service and only focus on the labeling given to him.
“This is Mr. Jokowi’s point of criticism that should be answered and responded to. One, regarding the repressive actions carried out by the police. Two, the issue of the revision of the ITE Law. Three, the KPK problem which he said after being revised would be stronger, but in fact nothing. Four, the issue regarding judicial review What you ask for the Court to reject all claims regarding the Job Creation Act,” said BEM UMY through an upload on Instagram @bem_umy, Thursday (1/7).
“Apart from The King of Lip Service, maybe you are also The King of pretending not to understand?“continued the upload.
BEM UMY said that what Jokowi did could actually be explained through Aristotle’s rhetorical theory. The theory explains that one of the weapons that can be used in persuasive communication is emotional.
In his message, he tries to persuade the people by touching their emotional side. This pattern was allegedly carried out by Jokowi.
“Aims to attract the emotional power of the people, so that the people are made to feel guilty, sad, sympathetic and respectful,” kata WELL UMY.
CNNIndonesia.com has received permission from BEM UMY to quote the upload. Meanwhile, Presidential Spokesman Fadjroel Rachman and Expert Staff of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Ali Mochtar Ngabalin have yet to respond to confirmation regarding the Jokowi King of Pretend.
Previously, BEM UI’s criticism of Jokowi was widely discussed after it became viral on social media. Jokowi then answered the criticism casually through a live broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat Youtube.
“I think this is a form of student expression and this is a democratic country. So, this criticism is okay,” said Jokowi.
“There used to be someone who said I was klemar-klemer, some say I’m a plonga-plongo, then change again, some say I’m an authoritarian. Then there were also those who said I was a lame duck, and recently someone said that I was Mr. Bipang, and lastly, someone said about The King of Lip Service,” said Jokowi.
