Student Executive Board or WELL Nusantara denied having held an audience with the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Council, WirantoFriday (8/4) related to the April 11 demonstration plan regarding the presidential extension period and the postponement of the election.
The Secretary of the BEM Nusantara Center, Ridho Alamsyah, said that his party was actually surprised that people who met Wiranto claimed to be from his institution. He said he condemned the move.
“Regarding the meeting between BEM Nusantara and Wiranto, we don’t know anything at all. We are surprised that someone brought the name BEM Nusantara to meet the vice president, we condemn this action,” Ridho told reporters. CNNIndonesia.comSunday (10/4).
Ridho explained, currently BEM Nusantara is divided into two camps. The first camp, led by Dimas Prayoga. Ridho claims that this camp is the official one.
Meanwhile, the people who met with Wiranto were the second faction led by Eko Pratama. He called this stronghold as a rival stronghold.
“BEM Nusantara was split into two during the national meeting at UWK Surabaya, they were a group that did not accept defeat at the national meeting in Surabaya,” he said.
“So the BEM Nusantara was divided, there was only the winning side, namely Dimas Prayoga’s corps and the other side, Eko Pratama’s version, which recognized itself as a corpus,” he added.
Ridho also claimed that the camp that met with Wiranto was officially not part of BEM Nusantara. He called the camp stupid.
“The point is yesterday’s stupid troop that met with Pak Wiranto that’s not part of us,” he said.
Previously, BEM Nusantara was reported to have met with Wiranto ahead of the April 11, 2022 demonstration.
Shortly after, BEM Nusantara said it would not participate in a demonstration against the extension of the term of office of Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in front of the palace on Monday (11/4).
Java Island Coordinator BEM Nusantara Ahmad Marzuki said his party was still finalizing a study on a number of issues. As such, they will not yet join the rallies.
“Yesterday we had consultations, but there was no agreement to participate,” said Marzuki after a meeting with the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Council Wiranto at the Wantimpres Office, Central Jakarta, Friday (8/4).
