The Belarusian bank BelVEB announced that from September 12, when applying for a loan, customers will not be issued funds immediately after completing the application. Clients will now be able to receive money only the next day – no earlier than 24 hours after the conclusion of the contract.
BelVEB Bank explained this measure by the desire to “minimize fraudulent activities when applying for a loan.”
“This measure will allow clients to take a more conscious approach to the issue of using credit funds in the event of obtaining a loan under the influence of third parties,” – explained in the bank.
Now, within the framework of the “Bright Credit Card” lending program, bank clients can, within 24 hours from the moment of concluding a loan agreement refuse the loan. To do this, you just need to call the contact center (by phone 205 (for MTS, A1, life:) subscribers) or by landline +375 17 215 61 15) or contact the nearest service office of the bank in person and write a corresponding application.
Let us remind you that the police have repeatedly called on Belarusians to be more vigilant in issues related to obtaining consumer loans. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, cases of fraud have become more frequent in Belarus, in which “the victim himself takes out a loan in his own name and transfers money to the attackers.”
As the department explained, Belarusians are increasingly receiving calls in instant messengers, allegedly from law enforcement officers with an offer to participate in a “special operation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.” To “catch the criminal,” Belarusians are offered to apply for a bank loan in their name and transfer the money received to a current account number sent via messenger. It was under this scheme that one of the victims in Minsk gave more than 1.2 million rubles to the scammers.
Earlier, Telegraf also talked about another scheme that scammers began to practice in Belarus, also related to obtaining loans and transferring funds to the accounts of criminals. Moreover, in this case, you can become a victim of scammers even by calling the “police”.
