Beluga XL flew through Vigo and Pontevedra to carry out take-off tests. This transport aircraft was put into service in 2019 and It was designed to transport the parts manufactured by the different Airbus companies.
Is about a transformation of the popular 330-200 Freighter airlinerdifferent components and equipment were reused to build the model and it is powered by Rolls Royce Trent 700 engines.
Airbus created this model with the aim of moving large aviation components between Spain, France and Germany.

The plane can non-stop journeys of more than 4,000 kilometersmeasures 63 meters long by 60 wingspan, reaches a height of 19 meters, has a diameter of nine meters in its loading area, the goods are introduced from the rear and supports a maximum payload of 51 tons.
Coming from Geneva, the plane carried out takeoff and landing maneuvers at Vigo airport for an hour and a halfto then leave for Toulouse.
The Vigo airport was chosen due to the orography of the approach area, the ILS landing system and the size of the runway.
It is not the first time that Airbus has scheduled Beluga XL tests in Vigo, due to the fact that maneuvers were scheduled for December 2020, but due to bad weather, the operations were canceled and the aircraft traveled to Porto. Finally, the first tests were carried out last April.
