Bell foundry: a monumental sculpture in the United States – le journal du week-end

It is a bell forest. A monumental musical sculpture, an instrument soon to be assembled. In this workshop, Olivier Allard tints his bells and harmonizes all the sounds. The Paccard foundry in Haute-Savoie has just created this Sonora work, the largest ever made. Composed of 63 bronze bells, it measures 32 meters high and will find its place at the University of Tampa in Florida to organize concerts and celebrate the highlights of this campus. A few weeks before delivery, the last adjustments with nuance and finesse. A blend of traditional craftsmanship with cutting edge technology. This requires nine kilometers of cables. It took three years of work. The amount of the order remains secret, but it is the largest contract in the history of the company created two hundred years ago. An emblem which according to the specifications will have to resist lightning and hurricanes.
