Libreville, October 2, 2023 (AGP) – Priority in hiring should be given to nationals in this operation, agreed the President of the Transition, Brigadier General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, and the Minister of Mines, Hervé Patrick Opiangah .
The Gabonese President of the Transition, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, reiterated his roadmap to the Minister of Mines, Hervé Patrick Opiangah, during an audience he granted him on Friday September 29 at the Palais du sea side.
Among the recommendations set by the Head of State regarding this project, the employability of nationals figures prominently.
“At the center of the recommendations of the roadmap, it will be a question of massively hiring nationals (…) The Belinga project will allow the creation of 300 direct jobs in the first phase, while the second phase will offer up to 5,000 direct jobs , not counting subcontracting,” explained Hervé-Patrick Opiangah
Continuing, the member of the government indicated that the same priority from the Gabonese will be required from the partner Reminac, also in the exploitation of iron, near Franceville, in the province of Haut-Ogooué (South-east). Just like the Chinese economic operator in the installation phase in Ndjolé, in Moyen-Ogooué (Center).
The training of the Gabonese will not be left out. Because mechanisms will be put in place to train young people in mining, added the government member. The objective being, in the long term, to only seek external expertise when necessary.
It is therefore for a harmonious development of the mining sector that Minister Hervé Patrick Opiangah is called by the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI). In this sense, the ministerial authority announced, among other safeguards, the rehabilitation of the Mining Brigade, for effective control of operators, and to avoid the flight of capital as in the past.
