/ world today news/ The stricter measures on the Greek-Macedonian border reduced the influx of migrants to Serbia, but opened doors for a new route – through Bulgaria.
This was reported by the Serbian state TV RTS.
Regardless of the fact that the borders of the countries of the so-called Balkan refugee routes have begun to introduce joint checks and controls on refugees in order to separate economic or illegal migrants from those coming from military areas.
The 15-point agreement, which the police chiefs signed in Zagreb on February 18, led to a decrease in the influx at the Serbian border and into Serbian reception centers, but at the same time the influx from Bulgaria increased, RTS said.
The announcement emphasizes that around 30,000 people from the Middle East have come through Bulgaria since the beginning of the crisis.
Today, the International Organization for Migration announced that more than 100,000 people have arrived in Greece and Italy since the beginning of the year.
