Belgrade is furious that Russian gas goes through Bulgaria and not Serbia – 2024-08-31 14:20:27

/ world today news/ Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic addressed insulting words to the EU due to the intentions of Brussels to have Russian gas go through Bulgaria and not through Serbia.

For the first time, I learned from Russian colleagues that official European representatives proposed to Russia to build a gas pipeline – East Stream, which would pass through Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia. In this project, Serbia will be bypassed.

This was said by Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic during his visit to St. Petersburg. “I never thought that such hypocrisy on the part of Brussels was possible, because they did everything for the failure of the South Stream project,” Dacic also said after the conversation with Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak and Gazprom director Alexey Miller .

If this thing is confirmed, Serbia will have to have serious talks with the European Commission /EC/, he said and added: This means that when the gas from Russia passes through Serbia, it is a political problem, but when it is destined for Western and Northern Europe is an economic project.

“I haven’t encountered such hypocrisy for a long time. If what I heard today is true, it means that we should have serious talks with the EC about their attitude towards Serbia,” emphasized Ivica Dacic.

The Serbian minister expressed his satisfaction with the fact that “in July, the Russians will start laying the pipes for the gas pipeline to Turkey”. “Miller informed me that tomorrow Moscow will sign a Memorandum with the Greek government on the establishment of a joint company for gas distribution,” Dacic also said.

According to him, there was a real possibility for the construction of a gas pipeline through Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Hungary and Austria. This will be a continuation of the already started projects with the Russian Federation, for which we have created joint companies, the minister explained.

We remind you that Ivica Dacic participated in the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg, together with the Serbian Minister of Finance, Dusan Vujovic, and the Minister of Agriculture, Zeljko Sertic. / Phonet
