Belgium relaxes rules for travelers from Zeeland | NOW

People traveling from Zeeland to Belgium no longer have to be quarantined or preventively tested for the corona virus for fourteen days, it makes Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Thursday announced. For more than a month, the color code orange applied to the province.

At the beginning of August, Belgium decided to tighten the rules for travelers from Zeeland due to an increase in the number of corona infections in the province. The number of positive tests per 100,000 inhabitants had exceeded 20. That is the threshold value that Belgium uses for its corona policy.

According to Zeeland broadcaster the number of positive tests per 100,000 inhabitants increased due to local outbreaks in the vicinity of Goes, while the lion’s share of Belgian tourists go to Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. According to the broadcaster, this part of the province suffered a lot from the decision. Many tourist attractions and holiday parks in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen were faced with cancellations.

Nothing has changed in the Belgian travel advice for the Netherlands. The color code green applies only to the provinces of Zeeland, Groningen, Friesland, Drenthe and Overijssel, and orange advice applies to the rest of the country.
