The Council of Ministers approved a further expansion of the digital platform ‘Working in Belgium’ on Friday. This was announced by State Secretary for Asylum and Migration Nicole de Moor (CD&V) and Minister of Health Frank Vandenbroucke (Vooruit). This should make it easier to process an application to come and work in Belgium.
The linking of the RSZ to the digital platform should support companies that are currently faced with a lack of workers and that find a suitable employee abroad. Due to long waiting times when applying for a combined work and residence permit, companies run the risk of employees ignoring Belgium.
“Large companies have problems recruiting those people. Smooth processing of the application to come and work in Belgium is essential to strengthen our competitive position vis-à-vis abroad,” says de Moor.
The draft cooperation agreement in question is now submitted to the Consultation Committee, which includes the federal government and the states. Afterwards the text is sent to the Council of State.
