Belgium bans smartphones in schools

According to the decision made by the Wallonia-Brussels Education Network (WBE), primary and secondary school students in 373 schools that provide French education will be prohibited from bringing smartphones to school.

The decision to suspend will cover 132 thousand 600 students.

In the Flemish part of the country, the government is expected to agree to a ban.

While some schools in Belgium banned all types of electronic devices from entering the school, others were flexible.

WBE reported that the decision was made because students were taking images of each other with their smartphones and sharing them on social media platforms, which led to more harassment crimes.
