(ABM FN-Dow Jones) The Belgian tax authorities demand 380 million euros from Delhaize. De Tijd wrote this on Wednesday.

An amount of 380 million euros corresponds to almost four times the profit of the Delhaize stores, De Tijd wrote.

However, it is far from certain that the tax authorities will be able to prove that the stores are worth more than the amount determined at the time,” analyst Hans D wrote. Ahold already mentioned the conflict with the Belgian tax authorities in its 2020 annual report. This also refers to a maximum amount of 380 million euros. However, Ahold disagrees with the reading of the Belgian tax authorities and will oppose “firmly”. A defense has therefore been filed and Ahold believes it has several legal and other options to defend itself.
Shares of Ahold Delhaize fell 0.3 percent to 26.47 euros on Wednesday.
