Belgian Stéphanie Huang makes it to the final of the Queen Elisabeth Competition for cello: “I have no words for it”

Just after 0.30 am, with Queen Mathilde in the audience, jury chairman Gilles Ledure read out the names of the twelve cellists who are allowed to go to the final of the Queen Elisabeth Competition. Our compatriot Stéphanie Huang is also there, as the only Belgian. She responded briefly to Jacob Van Durme, one of De Zes, the panel of young cello students who follow the competition for VRT: “I have no words for it”. She won’t celebrate until later, because on Tuesday she will go into seclusion to prepare for her final.
