A 35-year-old Belgian winter sports enthusiast died in the French Alps on Tuesday. He had a serious fall during a jump in the snow park of the Tignes ski area in Savoie. Last week, a 29-year-old Belgian skier also died in the same region.
The accident happened Tuesday around 3:30 p.m., the Albertville prosecutor’s office said. The 35-year-old man made a fatal jump in the Tignes snow park, where skiers and snowboarders can show their skills on, among other things, constructed obstacles.
The man was an experienced skier and may have landed unluckily when he made the jump. “The Belgian immediately lost consciousness after his fall. When the emergency services, including a rescue helicopter with an emergency doctor, arrived on the scene, he had already died,” the mountain police said.
Psychological help was provided for the relatives of the man in his thirties who witnessed the tragedy.
The Albertville city prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal fall.

Last week, a 29-year-old Belgian also died in the Les Sybelles ski area in the French Alps. According to the Albertville public prosecutor’s office, the man died in an accident on a blue slope at the Le Corbier ski station.
