Belgian scientists are discovering how planetary nebulae get their enchanting shapes

Planetary nebulae occur in the universe in the most diverse forms. They are always symmetrical but almost never round. This multitude of shapes is something that has long amazed scientists. How can a star like the sun, which is round like a billiard ball, disappear in a nebula that looks like a cone, a butterfly or a spiral?
