SCK CEN in Mol will send a 3D-printed heart into space in 2025. SCK CEN has also previously sent scientific tests on space missions. This time it is a miniscule replicated heart made with ink from human cells.
In space, the human aging process is up to 20 times faster than on Earth. As a result, health problems can be predicted and treatments can be tested. The intention is to try this with other organs later on.
