Belgian pigeon sold for a record amount of 1.6 million euros | NOW

The Belgian pigeon New Kim was sold on Sunday for 1.6 million euros to an anonymous buyer from China. This makes her the most expensive pigeon ever. The previous record was held by the West Flemish top pigeon Armando, for which 1.2 million euros had been paid.

New Kim comes from breeders from Berlaar in the province of Antwerp. “New Kim’s buyer is the same as that of Armando“, says Nikolaas Gyselbrecht of auction site Pigeon Paradise (PIPA) against the Belgian channel GARDEN. “He might pair the two.”

This weekend and Monday all pigeons from a family of breeders from Berlaar are sold on PIPA. “In total there are 445 pigeons in that collection”, says Gyselbrecht. “The total collection is currently at 3.7 million euros, but only a few pigeons have been auctioned.”
