The Belgian men’s national football team beat England on their field in the UEFA League of Nations match on Sunday.

Belgium won the duel of two 2018 World Cup semi-finalists with a score of 2: 0 (2: 0).

Belģi took the lead 10 minutes into the game by 1 to 1, as Juri Tīlemanss elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. In the 24th minute of the match, Driss Mertens strengthened the leadership of the Belgians with a direct free kick.

Both in the second half of the match and throughout the game, the English had a slight advantage and a chance to score, but they could not beat Tibo Kurtoa.

In the previous mutual game a month ago, the English were superior with 2: 1. The two teams also met in the World Cup finals last year. Both in the subgroup and in the fight for the third place, the Belgians were superior, winning with 1: 0 and 2: 0.

In the A2 group, Denmark took home a 2: 1 (1: 0) victory over Iceland.

The first goal was scored in the 12th minute, when Kristiāns Ēriksens implemented an 11-meter penalty kick, reaching 1: 0 in favor of the Danes. Five minutes before the end of the regular time, the result was equalized by Vidars Kjartansons, who remained unattended by the opponents’ defenders, but the Icelanders were not at the point. The owners of the victory court provided compensation in the first minute, when Eriksen sold another “pendulum”.

Iceland lost in the play-off this week as a ticket to next year’s European Championship final. After the loss, the head coach of the national team, Erik Hamren, resigned.

In group A2, after five games, the leader with 12 points is Belgium, ten points are for Denmark, seven points are scored by England, but Iceland is in the beige and next season will play in the B league.

Meanwhile, in the A1 group, Italy defeated Poland 2: 0 (1: 0).

The Italians won the first half thanks to the 11-meter penalty kick taken by Georgina in the 27th minute. Six minutes into the game, Domeniko Berardi had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide.

In the second fight, the Netherlands defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina at home 3: 1 (2: 0).

The first two goals for the Dutch team were scored by Jeordino Vijnaldum. In the sixth minute, the home keeper’s midfielder was accurate from the goalkeeper’s line, but eight minutes later he received the ball a few meters against the goal and reached 2: 0.

Similarly, Memphis Depay reached 3: 0 in the 55th minute, but after eight minutes from about ten meters, Smails Prevljaks was accurate, who reduced the home team’s lead.

The first victory at the helm of the Dutch national team was won by Frank de Boer, who replaced Ronald Kuman, who had moved to Barcelona.

In the A1 group, Italy was the leader with nine points before the last round, the Netherlands with eight points, Poland with seven points, and Bosnia and Herzegovina with two points, which will play below the level next year.

It has already been reported that only France has secured a place in the final four tournament from League A.

In the second echelon or B league, Slovakia defeated Scotland 1: 0 (1: 0), scoring the only goal for Jānis Gregušs. In the second game of the B2 group, the Czech Republic took the lead over Israel with 1: 0 (1: 0), delivering the winning shot to Vladmir Darid.

In group B4, Finland defeated Bulgaria with 2: 1 (2: 0) guests, marking Theme Puki with a goal and a pass. In this group, Wales defeated Ireland 1: 0 (0: 0) at home, saddened by the goal scored by David Brooks after Geret Baille.

As a result, the match ended in the B3 group, where Turkey defeated Russia 3: 2 (2: 1) in their field, which lost the lead and played with ten men from the 24th minute. The group also played in Budapest, where Hungary played a 1: 1 draw with Serbia.

In Group B1, Austria played 0: 1 at home in the last ten minutes and defeated Northern Ireland 2: 1 (0: 0), with Adrian Grbic scoring three decades before the end of regular time. After the Norwegian team was found to be infected with Covid-19, the country did not go to Romania, where the second group B1 match was to take place tonight.

In league C, both of Latvia’s neighboring countries suffered losses on Sunday. Estonia conceded to Northern Macedonia 1: 2 (0: 1), while Lithuania conceded the superiority of Belarus 0: 2 (0: 2). Failing, Lithuania lost hope of winning the group, which would allow it to play in the B league next season, but the Estonians can no longer rise above the last place, so in two years they will play in the D league.

In the third level, Albania defeated Kazakhstan 3: 1 (2: 1) at home, Armenia defeated Georgia 2: 1 (1: 0) away, Greece defeated Moldova 2: 0 (2: 0) on the opponent’s field, and Slovenia defeated Moldova at home. 2: 1 (0: 0) was superior to Kosovo. Josip Iličič won the Slovenians during the compensation.

In the League of Nations, the group winners earn the opportunity to play in a higher group next year. Namely, the team that wins in one of the C groups gets a chance to start in one of the B groups, while the winners of the B groups will be strong in the A groups next year.

Those teams that have won the first two places in their groups, but have not previously qualified for the 2022 World Cup, will be eligible to participate in the World Cup qualification “play-off” round.

The League of Nations tournament is in its second year. In the first season of the League of Nations, Portugal was crowned the winner.
