Belgian Evenpoul crowned the fifth edition of the Emirates Tour

The Belgian Rimco Evenbol was crowned champion of the fifth edition of the Emirates Tour 2023, organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, which was held in seven stages, for a distance of 1028 km, with the participation of 140 cyclists representing 20 professional teams, and its competitions concluded yesterday, at the summit of Jebel Hafeet in Al Ain.

Evinpool succeeded in winning the Tour title, despite the British rider Adam Yates, the rider of the Emirates team, outperforming him in the last stage that was held in Al Ain for a distance of 153 km, as the British cyclist was able to outperform his Belgian competitor by only 10 seconds in the last kilometers at maximum speed before crossing the finish line. At the top of Jebel Hafeet, the Briton finished the race distance in 3:29:42 hours to take first place for the stage and third in the overall standings of the tour, while Australian Lucas Plabb, rider of the Eneos Grenadier team, came in second place in the general standings of the tour.

The Belgian Remco Evenbol, the rider of the Soudal Quick Step team, won two shirts after the end of the race, as he wore the red shirt sponsored by (International Holding Company) for the leader in the general standings of the race, and the white shirt sponsored by (Al Nakhil Company) for the best young cyclist under 23 years old, while Tim Merler won the green shirt sponsored by (Italian Trade Agency) for the leader in points, and kept the black jersey sponsored by (Abu Dhabi Experience), the leader of the middle-speed stage, Belgian Edouard Planckart, rider of the Ibbelsen Deconink team.

The Emirates team won the title of the best team in the fifth edition of the Emirates Tour.
