According to what Nieuwsblad has learned, the friends of Laura Trappeniers and Marc Olbrechts found the Opel Mokka with Spanish license plate in Roque del Conde in Adeje, the municipality where the couple also lived.
The car was allegedly unlocked. Clothing, sunglasses and a knife were found inside. The couple’s friends notified the police, who came to collect the car. The vehicle is currently under investigation. The Spanish police provide no information. The Belgian federal public prosecutor’s office, which announced earlier this weekend that it would offer assistance to the Spanish investigators, is not informed.
There is currently no trace of Marc Olbrechts himself. The man and his wife Laura Trappeniers were reported missing on Wednesday, April 24. Friends last saw them on Monday, April 22. The woman was found lifeless six days later by a local fisherman, off the coast of Arico – about 50 kilometers away, on the east side of the island. Her body was badly mutilated. The woman was missing both legs and a hand. Someone had tied a yellow plastic bag over her head.
It is clear that the woman was killed violently. Under what circumstances is not yet known. The discovery of the car may now provide more clarity.
