A young man was beaten up Friday evening in Belfort, after posting a photo of his family Christmas meal on social media, indicates Republican East. Around 3 p.m., the young man uploaded an image on Snapchat showing oysters and shrimp.

One of his contacts, an acquaintance of a school and a football club, sharply reproaches him for having posted the image and having celebrated Christmas, while he is of Muslim faith. “Dirty son of whites, son of a snake, son of police officers”, then “I’ll show you what a real Arab is”, he wrote to him in particular.
The two men meet a few hours later to have an explanation. But the victim falls “into a real trap”, according to his mother. “We make him pay for his origins and especially the fact of being the son of a couple of police officers,” she insists.
Five people are waiting for him, including the man who wrote to him on Snapchat. They strike him several times, leaving him on the ground after threatening to retaliate if he speaks or files a complaint.
Face injuries and bruises
The young Belfortain presents wounds to the face as well as bruises. He finally manages to get back to his car and go home. And goes to the police station to file a complaint.
His interlocutor on Snapchat, with whom he agreed to the meeting, was arrested and placed in police custody. During his hearing, he would have explained “to have been shocked” by the photo posted on social networks because it is “not Muslim to celebrate Christmas”.
The investigation identified two other individuals suspected of having participated in the beating. One of them spontaneously came to the police station.
