The residents of Heimarra gave Freddy Beleris a warm welcome after his release from prison.
Crowds of people, members of the Greek minority, gathered to see up close the MEP, now, of the ND and former elected mayor of Heimarra.
In fact, there was no shortage of slogans and fireworks when Mr. Beleris addressed a short greeting.
Among other things, he emphasized in his speech that “I want to thank you for the support these fifteen months. Someone wanted to break us up and you all know who that is. The thieves want to take the land from the householders. Don’t listen to nationalist fairy tales. Don’t listen to those who want to tear us apart. Don’t listen to those who want to steal. The whole secret is possessions.”
Freddy Beleris remained in prison for 481 days and his sentence was expected to be completed in mid-October.
During his imprisonment, he managed to be elected Mayor of Heimarra and then a member of the European Parliament with the New Democracy.
