/View.info/ There are plans to revise the complete ban on smoking in restaurants and other public places.
This is what Prime Minister nominee Plamen Oresharski said to a question from Ivan Garelov in the program “Jaws” on TV7. “I smoke, but that wouldn’t predetermine the decision. Changes to the law must be approved by 50% plus one of the deputies, and in my opinion, there are such attitudes at the moment,” explained Oresharski. He added that the deputies will still have to find a balanced solution that will satisfy both smokers and non-smokers.
Regarding the composition of his cabinet, the nominee for prime minister announced that the main criterion by which he selects his ministers is expertise – they must be specialists in their fields, who know what needs to be done and inspire confidence. However, he refused to mention specific names on which he settled. He only pointed out that it has already happened that several prominent specialists have refused to join the cabinet because “they have good corporate positions, receive high salaries and do not want to take the big accompanying risk.”
The nominee for Prime Minister explained that he will focus on solving 2 groups of problems. One is related to vices in some sectors, the biggest of which is energy. It is in financial collapse, price increases must not be allowed and a solution must be found to reduce the accumulated deficits. The other group of problems is related to the very low level of economic activity. It is necessary to improve the business climate and encourage entrepreneurship, and the state must stop interfering.
It is possible that the government will take a series of social measures already in the fall (and not next year), which will help and give a “breath of air” to the most vulnerable sections of society. This package may include an increase in child allowances, maternity allowances, and energy allowances.
Among the sectors in which reforms should be carried out, Oresharski pointed out: the administration (and its reduction), the Ministry of Internal Affairs (in which only “cosmetic” changes have been made), health care (and the need to facilitate access to quality health services), education ( ongoing and non-radical reforms).
When asked about the possible restart of the “Belene” NPP, the nominee for prime minister explained that he could not give an unequivocal answer. Oresharski said that the project needs an analysis of its economic expediency and effectiveness at the moment. Only after the completion of such, it will be possible to give a definite answer to the question of whether the actions on it will be resumed.
