Zakharova drew attention to the fact that the sanctions instrument is unilateral and illegitimate, it undermines the prerogatives of the UN Security Council, and may also lead to further erosion of international law.
The representative of the Russian department said that the imposed restrictions are regarded by Moscow as open and unacceptable pressure on Belarusian authorities… The EU did not say a word in support of the constitutional reform, which is aimed at liberalizing the political system of Belarus.
Maria Zakharova drew attention to the fact that EU representatives have repeatedly spoken about the absence of geopolitics in their approaches, although the decisions he makes say the opposite. There is also a violation of the principle of the UN Charter and the Helsinki Final Act of the CSCE on non-interference in internal affairs.
The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out to the EU that he had decided to follow the lead of individual member countries, which are determined to further sway the situation in Belarus.
Zakharova drew attention to the fact that the reciprocal Belarusian sanctions list, in accordance with the allied obligations, comes into force on Friday, October 2, and on the territory of Russia.
