MINSK, 3 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian government has today scheduled a meeting on the issue of housing provision, BelTA has learned. It took place under the leadership of Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko.
“We continue to work on an important task. We are changing approaches to housing construction in the country. At the last meeting we highlighted a number of issues that require further study. It was decided to set up small working groups to study the following topics in depth. First, to identify the problems that hinder the development of mortgage lending for housing construction and, accordingly, to develop proposals to eliminate them. Secondly, it should be examined to what extent increasing state subsidies for housing construction in settlements with up to 80,000 inhabitants is appropriate. The third task, on which two teams worked, is to provide various categories of citizens with rental or social housing,” said Roman Golovchenko.
According to him, some proposals have already been developed. “The ultimate goal is to present the finalized decisions on the housing policy at the meeting of the Executive Council,” said the Prime Minister.
