The opposition in Belarus also strongly criticizes the entry. Critics say the Song Contest would legitimize the violent response of the Lukashenko regime to the protests if it allowed this song. “This is a joke for the people of Belarus, for everything that is happening in the country,” says Angelika Agurbash, who attended the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest for Belarus. “To receive any deputy from Lukashenko’s bloodthirsty regime would be wrong,” she says.
