Belarusian BelAZ is left without Rolls-Royce engines

At the end of June, Rolls-Royce Group terminated cooperation with the Belarusian company BelAZ, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of quarry dump trucks in the world.

The reciprocal introduction of sanctions between the European Union and Belarus is in full swing, or with the announcement of further steps in this area on a daily basis. Although Rolls-Royce is a British company, it supplied the engines to BelAZ through the German MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH.

Now the Rolls-Royce Group has decided to end the cooperation, thus losing BelAZ, one of the most important engine suppliers.

According to media reports, Rolls-Royce’s sixteen-cylinder DD 16V4000 2330 hp diesel engine was used for the БелАЗ-75710, which allowed the 840-tonne tipper to carry 450 tons of cargo.

It will be recalled that sanctions against Belarus were imposed in response to repression against opponents of the Lukashenko regime and the forced landing of a Ryanair plane in Minsk to apprehend the regime’s critics, Roman Protasevich.
