Belarusian acrobatic skier Maxim Gustik died after a tragic accident that took place on December 9 in Minsk. The former athlete did not survive the collision with the car.
A participant in the PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022 Olympics was trying to cross the eight-lane road outside the pedestrian crossing in the evening. The driver of the oncoming car noticed him too late and could no longer prevent the accident. The consequences of the tragedy in the capital of Belarus were so serious that a 35-year-old former skier died on the spot.
During his career, Maxim Gustik achieved many successes. He became the Junior World Champion in 2006 and 2007, won bronze at the Kreischberg Championship in 2015 and won the World Cup twice in 2013 and 2015. Before his death, he worked as a coach of the Belarusian acrobatic skiing team.
