Belarus with countermeasures to EU sanctions

The Belarusian authorities have already prepared a package of retaliatory sanctions against the European Union, and Minsk hopes that the West will not introduce new measures against the country. This was said yesterday in an interview with Belarus-1 TV by the Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, quoted by TASS.

“Still, we hope the hotheads will cool down and assess the interests of their business in Belarus. The package of measures in response to sanctions is ready,” said the Belarusian Prime Minister. .

According to Golovchenko, the damage to the Belarusian economy from Western sanctions could amount to 2.9 percent of the country’s GDP. The prime minister said Belarus would try to seek compensation in court for losses related to the sanctions following the Ryanair plane crash.

“We are confident in our right and we are ready to defend our interests in court. I assume that we will be able to achieve compensation for all the damage caused to us,” said the Belarusian prime minister.
