State TV of Belarus showed how activists are caught on the border with Ukraine

Belarusian security forces detained two defendants in the so-called “round dance” case on the border with Ukraine.

In Belarus, the state TV channel ONT showed a story about the attempt of two persons involved in the “round dance” case to escape to Ukraine. The story was released on Friday, August 13th.

The men were detained at the border in the forest – they allegedly had a ladder to climb over the fence at the border.

In turn, human rights activists said that residents of the Brest region, Andrei Oniskevich and Ilya Polkhovsky, were detained – previously they were convicted in the so-called “round dance” case and sentenced to 1.5 and two years of restriction of freedom.

In the story, the detainees allegedly admit that they “wanted to avoid punishment” and therefore fled across the border. They have already been fined for attempting to illegally cross the border and are planning to transfer them to “chemistry”.

It should be noted that the “round dance” case is connected with the protests in Brest – on September 13, 2020, a column of protesters blocked traffic on one of the city’s avenues and led round dances there. The security forces dispersed the people with water cannons.

Let us remind you that earlier in Belarus there was detained ex-presidential candidate… Andrei Dmitriev ran in the 2020 presidential elections – now he is detained for unknown reasons.

It was also reported that in Belarus detained ex-ambassador to Slovakia… Igor Leshchenya was one of the first diplomats to support the protests. After the searches he was taken away by the security forces, where he is unknown.
