President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree pardoning Russian citizen Sofia Sapieha. This was announced today, June 7, by the governor of Primorsky Krai Oleg Kozhemyako.
“Our compatriot Sofya Sapega received a unique chance to start life anew. She is free after my appeal to Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko. He reacted with paternal understanding to the requests of Sophia’s parents for indulgence, ” — wrote the head of the region.
According to Kozhemyako, the president of Belarus signed the decree on pardon immediately after his personal appeal.
“I’m sure Sophia will draw conclusions from this story. It was a serious lesson. But thanks to the goodwill of Alexander Grigoryevich, instead of six years, she spent two years in prison, ” he added.
