This was reported by the head of the Main Directorate of Environmental Policy, International Cooperation and Science of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Tatyana Kononchuk, writes BELTA.
According to her, radiation monitoring in Belarus is currently carried out at 120 observation points. In connection with the construction of the BelNPP, 10 more automated radiation monitoring systems (ASMCS) appeared.
“All this allows today to continuously monitor the radiation situation in our country, as well as in neighboring countries, online. In the future, we plan to strengthen radiation monitoring – introduce modern services, as well as equipment for processing the results,” said Tatyana Kononchuk.
The expert also noted that the radiation situation in the republic as a whole is favorable.
“Today, control has been strengthened in areas that have been subjected to radioactive contamination. This work is also being carried out within the framework of the state program to overcome the consequences of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant,” the specialist said.
