The leader of the united opposition of Belarus, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, against the backdrop of rumors about the state of health of the self-proclaimed President Alexander Lukashenko, urged to prepare “for any scenario.”
Tikhanovskaya published the corresponding statement on Twitterreports “European truth“.
“There are a lot of rumors about the state of health of dictator Lukashenka. For us, this means only one thing: we must be well prepared for any scenario. To return Belarus to the path of democracy and prevent Russia from interfering,” the Belarusian oppositionist said.
She also called on the international community to “act proactively and quickly.”
Let us remind you about the state of the Belarusian leader or about the place where he is now, for a long time nothing was known. Since the solemn events on May 9 in Moscow and Minsk, Lukashenka did not appear in the public field, no events were held with his personal participation.
According to independent media, on the evening of May 13, a cortege, accompanied by the Strela special unit, arrived at the Republican Clinical Medical Center of the Presidential Administration.
At the same time, on Monday afternoon, Belarusian state media showed footage of Lukashenka arriving at the Belarusian air force’s central command post, with analysts noting that one arm was bandaged.
It should be noted that according to the Constitution of Belarus, in the event of Lukashenka’s incapacity or death, the highest power in the country will pass to the speaker of the upper house of parliament, the Council of the Republic, until new elections. Now the position is held by 62-year-old Natalia Kochanova, Lukashenko’s former chief of staff, who is considered a loyal and tough politician.
