Details: In a series of posts on Twitter (X) on January 23, Revenko criticized “individual states” for failing to implement the so-called OSCE Vienna Document, which requires member states to be informed of large-scale military activities.
“NATO countries plan to attract 90 thousand military personnel to the “largest exercise in a decade,” but Belarus has not received any notification or invitation,” the Belarusian functionary complains.
Recalling Poland, which did not warn the Belarusian regime about its upcoming exercises at the end of February, Revenko states that “such an approach has nothing to do with the declared desire to preserve the current security architecture in Europe.”
The official of the Belarusian Ministry of Defense did not mention that neighboring Russia itself has repeatedly violated its obligations under the Vienna Document
In 2021, the Russian Federation ignored a request from Ukraine regarding clarification of military activities near its borders, insisting that it was “not obligated” to do this, and in 2023 – refused disclose information about the armed forces to other OSCE members.
North Atlantic Alliance in February organizes large-scale military maneuvers Steadfast Defender, the largest since the end of the Cold War. The Western Defense Alliance wants to mobilize about 90 thousand soldiers for this purpose.
In particular, issues of warning and deployment of national and multinational ground forces will be worked out.
