Belarus is concerned about NATO’s military buildup near its borders, Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov said at the UN General Assembly. RIA explains News.
“NATO continues to increase its military capability on our western borders. Tens of thousands of soldiers and thousands of pieces of equipment. “We are very afraid that the ‘game’ could get out of control,” said the minister.
Ryzhenkov stressed that an escalation of the conflict could lead to a third world war, as “there are enough nuclear weapons in Europe.” Ryzhenkov said that such a development of events would have dire consequences.
Before this, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that nuclear weapons could be used in the event of armed attacks against Belarus. “We reserve the right to use nuclear weapons if Russia and Belarus are attacked as a member of the Union State,” he said.
