Western countries left Belarus with no choice but to deploy Russian tactical nuclear weapons. They had better be careful not to “cross red lines” on key strategic issues. This was stated on Sunday by Alexander Volfovich, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, quoted by Reuters.
According to him, it is logical that the weapons should be withdrawn after the collapse of the USSR in 1991, as the United States has provided security guarantees and have not imposed sanctions.
“Today everything is destroyed. All the promises that were made are gone forever,” Wolfovich said.
Lukashenko: In an alliance with Russia and Belarus, there will be nuclear weapons for everyone
If anyone is worried, to join the union, urged the president of Belarus
“The deployment of tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus is therefore one of the steps of strategic deterrence. If there is any sense left in the heads of Western politicians, of course, they will not cross this red line,” Volfovich said.
He said that any resort to the use of “even tactical nuclear weapons would lead to irreversible consequences”.
We remind you that on Sunday the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, stated that if anyone is worried, then he should enter into an alliance with Russia and Belarus and there will be nuclear weapons for everyone.

“If anyone is worried, I don’t think Kasim-Jomart Tokaev is worried about it, but if suddenly, then no one is against Kazakhstan and other countries having the same close relations that we have with the Russian Federation. It’s very simple. Belarus and Russia should enter into a union and that’s all: there will be nuclear weapons for everyone,” Lukashenko pointed out.
He emphasized that this was his personal opinion, but added that it was not impossible. We need to strategically understand that we have a unique chance to unite, explained the Belarusian president.
On May 24, Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pointed out that interaction within the union state, where “even nuclear weapons are now one for two”, differs from the level of integration with Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
The treaty establishing a union between Russia and Belarus was signed on December 8, 1999 in Moscow by Presidents Boris Yeltsin and Alexander Lukashenko. It entered into force on January 26, 2000 and is indefinite. Russian President Vladimir Putin said on March 25 that the Russian Federation, at the request of the Belarusian side, will deploy its tactical nuclear weapons in the republic, as the United States has long done on the territory of its allies.
As the head of state of Russia announced, on July 1, it is planned to complete the construction of a storage facility for tactical nuclear weapons on Belarusian territory. Moscow has already handed Minsk the Iskander missile system, which can be a carrier of nuclear weapons, and is helping to re-equip Belarusian planes so they can use special munitions, Lukashenko explained.
We remind you that earlier this month, Minsk and Moscow signed a document on the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus.
