The corresponding statement was published by the State Border Committee of Belarus, writes “European truth“.
Belarusian border guards said that since 2020, the Polish authorities have closed international communication channels under various pretexts. As a result, only 3 out of 6 checkpoints functioned.
“After the closure of another Polish checkpoint, the situation will become catastrophic and may lead to a collapse in the border area, since the load on the 2 remaining checkpoints will critically increase. through the Terespol (Brest) checkpoint,” the statement said.
The committee said that the decision of the Polish side to close another channel of international communication is not aimed at ensuring public safety, but at further aggravating the situation at the border and limiting mutual travel of citizens.
Poland said on Thursday, citing security concerns, that it would close a key checkpoint on the border with Belarus at Bobrovniki.
The day before, the Polish Foreign Ministry summoned a Belarusian diplomat because of the sentence to one of the leaders of the Union of Poles in Belarus.
