Details: Tensions between Minsk and Stockholm intensified after Sweden appointed Kristina Johanesson, who had previously been ambassador to Minsk, as a representative to the Belarusian democratic community abroad.
According to Radio Liberty, Minsk subsequently recalled its ambassador to Stockholm, Dmitry Mironchik.
The recall of Sweden’s Charge d’Affaires Eva Sudqvist for consultations also took place on the initiative of Minsk.
The press service of the Swedish Foreign Ministry reported that the charge d’affaires is already in Stockholm for consultations.

Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström announced the appointment Johanesson back in early November.
When asked by the media whether Sweden would recognize opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya as the elected president, he then replied that she would be recognized as “the one who won the elections and was supposed to become the inaugural president of Belarus.”
