“Belarus is all located near the western borders. This is the western outpost of the Union State. It is not necessary to place them near the borders of Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. You can place them anywhere. The distance and length of Belarus is 600 km. It allows you to place them anywhere,” he said.
Volfovich added that there are a lot of places in Belarus to deploy nuclear weapons.
“On the territory of Belarus, when there was a Belarusian military district (in the days of the USSR, – ed.), there were more than 43 points for deploying nuclear weapons. They all survived – the president said,” he added.
It should be reminded that earlier Russian Ambassador to Belarus Boris Gryzlov stated that nuclear weapons in Belarus would be deployed near the borders with Poland.
Prior to this, the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, noted that the transfer of tactical nuclear weapons of the Russian Federation to Belarus poses a threat to European security.
In addition, the UN considers the risk of using nuclear weapons “higher than during the Cold War.”
