Bekasi Hospital Explains the Viral of Sleeping Patients in the Parking Lot

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

The President Director of the Chasbullah Abdulmadjid Hospital, Bekasi, Kusnanto Saidi opened his voice about the video circulating on social media showing patient checked by the officer above pickup car and lying on the mat.

He confirmed that the incident occurred on Friday (25/6) this morning. According to him, those seen in the video are waiting for initial examinations related to Covid-19.

“This is an emergency triage tent (the process of determining or selecting patients) for Covid. So as soon as the patient arrives, wait for triage, screening whether the PCR is negative or positive. Now while waiting, the patient doesn’t want to sit in a wheelchair, he wants to lie down,” Kusnanto said in the video he received CNNIndonesia.com, Friday.

Kusnanto said that actually there were 30 beds in the emergency tent. But he said, at that time his condition was full of patients.

“Well, it just so happened that we only had 30 beds. It turned out that there were more than 30 patients,” he said.

Further, he said to prevent a similar incident, his party made a hallway in one of the hospital buildings for a triage place and provided as many as 15 beds.

“And I was also instructed by the Mayor to add one floor of beds in Building E totaling 45 beds, to disperse patients and God willing, this afternoon or tomorrow morning they can be operational,” he said.

Previously, a video showing the conditions at the hospital circulated on social media. In the video which is less than half a minute long, you can see the conditions in the hospital yard.

Video shows a number of people with infected hands sleeping on mats near a makeshift tent. There is also seen sitting in a wheelchair.

In addition, there was a mother lying in a pickup truck. A health worker wearing PPE is seen treating the mother.
