The priest who attended the mediation accepted Masriwati’s apology. He thanked the levels of the Bekasi City Government that mediated this matter.

In the mediation held today, the Acting Mayor of Kita Bekasi, Gani Muhamad, said that there was agreement and understanding between the two parties. Gani said the Bekasi City Government would allow Christians to worship.

“If it happens that our brothers and sisters will be able to worship comfortably in their institution comfortably, of course it will also be approved through the mechanism of the relevant laws and regulations, the City Government will immediately help change the place,” said Gani.

Before that, this case went viral on social media. In the video that was circulating, a woman identified as a state civil servant (ASN) complained against her neighbors who were holding a group prayer at home.

The incident was said to have happened on Jalan Siput Raya, South Bekasi. The incident was reported to the Bekasi Town Government (Pemkot). The Bekasi City Government followed and confirmed the ASN suspected of committing acts of intolerance.
