Beirut Municipality Honors Victims of Beirut Port Explosion with Memorandum for Public Commemoration

The Public Relations Department of the Beirut Municipality stated in a statement, “The Governor of the City of Beirut, Judge Marwan Abboud, issued a memorandum in memory of the catastrophe of the Beirut port explosion, stating: “Pursuant to Memorandum No. 20/2023 issued by the Prime Minister on 7/25/2023 related to the closure of Public administrations, public institutions, and municipalities, on Friday, August 4, 2023, on the anniversary of the tragedy of the Beirut port explosion, the fire brigade is requested to fly flags at half-mast in public squares and others in the city of Beirut, and it also hopes that the honorable citizens will stand a minute of silence for the spirit of the righteous martyrs at the time of the explosion.

The statement concluded, “Governor Abboud also wished the owners and investors of tourist shops (restaurants, cafes, nightclubs, pubs…) not to hold noisy evenings and to replace programs in a manner commensurate with this painful memory in solidarity with the families of the martyrs and the wounded, asking God to preserve our city.” Beirut and our beloved country, Lebanon.
